Gaining Personal Power by Association. Example

I personally tried "Power by association". I teamed up with someone else and together we agreed that whenever some other person malign us verbally, we both will combat him.
Several times when somebody tried to malign me, my associate replied him and tried to create a defence against him. We did this for protection against evil not to become an evil and it was successful.
So as for as gaining a personal power is concerned I will suggest option 2 in an area where there is lot of human interaction.

Power by Association

Power by association is the power we gain by connecting with others and by being able to utilize the power that others already have.
As we get to know people and gain their respect and trust, we may leverage their power, for example in asking them to ask others to do things or asking them for introductions. The secret of gaining associative power is hence in being able to create bonds and draw on relationships.
We can also join clubs, teams and many other associations and coalitions, thereby gaining the power of the group.
