Apart from Gulick's 7 managerial activities or functions, another important role is: communication with passion or inner belief. Planning, directing, reporting all needs communication & percolation to all employees for further action, achievement of goals and damage control. A visionary well spoken articulated communicator is needed to speak on the strategies and actions of the organisation to have all the stakeholders behind him and follow his decisions. An 8th, External Management Function is Required in POSDCORB

POSDCORB are seven management processes or functions. All of these activities and duties are aimed inward rather than both in- and outward.
It seems we would need an additional 8th external function of managers in POSDCORB to accommodate things like: organization image, environmental issues, other external environment, learning organization, innovation, client, customers, competitor, results and various other impacts on the external environment of the firm.
