Leadership Skills Development
Rafiudeen, Management Consultant, Qatar, Member
I am planning a leadership training workshop for a social service organization. The expected participants will be from various backgrounds. All of them are volunteers and according to the program coordinator they are committed personnel. May I know some suitable games I can play with them to introduce some basic leadership skills such as decision making, communication, delegation, negotiation etc...?

One simulation that might be helpful is the Flying Starship Factory. This allows participants to learn in a very hands-on way about many of the skills Rafiudeen mentions. At first blush, it's 'manufacturing' context may be off-putting to a group of social service volunteers, though if set up properly could prove a fun and interesting learning experience perhaps because its orientation. But fyi. (full disclosure: I have recently purchased the simulation, but have not had a chance yet to try it out--so I am speaking from what I have read and not from my personal use of the game. But I do have great respect for the creators of the simulation).
