Some Level of EQ and IQ Either Way is Needed

A very intelligent person (high IQ) might be great to have around.
But he has to have some emotional capacity (high EQ) to assert a better coping abilities to life's daily wiles... Either at work, home and family, friends and community at large...
A higher IQ with some level off EQ, or a higher EQ with some level off IQ: both work for me..

Interaction Between IQ and EI

IQ and EI can not be separated in our life. They should interact, then you will have a better and more successful life. About that I have no doubt.

The Level of EI and IQ That is Needed

I tend to agree with Genevy Polan's statement that some level of the other "trait" is crucial for human beings to be happy and functioning in an organization or family environment.
Just think of somebody brilliant but she possesses no EI at all.
Or think of somebody with extremely high EI but he really is a complete moron as far as analytical intelligence is concerned.
Both types of persons would probably be unsuccessful in both their business and family life.
By the way, I believe these cases are rare. Contrary to what many people think, persons with a high IQ tend to also have a relatively high EI.
