Empowerment is not about rhetoric, it is not about copying what others are doing just for the sake of it.
It must genuinely have the interest of the employee at heart and it must have the long term interest of the organisation at heart.
Above all, it must recognise and treat the employee as a human being.
When an employee knows s/he is valued, performance and loyalty will fall in line. When employees are valued, the rate of attrition will be reduced and hiring cost is thereby minimised.
