Web Marketing Obeys to other Rules than Traditonal Marketing

Constantinides is absolutely right: E-commerce should not be viewed as an application of technology but as an integral part of a strategic approach to running a business via the web. And indeed web marketing or better said internet strategy has its own set of rules which must be obeyed to be successful in such a business. The 4S-es should be considered a valuable tool for any website owner, in particular for mixed physical / virtual firms.

The Rules of Internet Strategy

I agree he is right about the importance of looking at this strategically. Another good tool to focus on these rules of internet strategy are Kevin Kelly's Twelve Principles of the Network Economy (1997).
