Is Management the Sister of Politics?
You can argue that management is the sister of politics because of following reasons:
- Management is guiding Politics to plan its objectives.
- Politics and Management have similar goals. In business management, the achievement of profit is the purpose. A good reputation is important for this. In politics, profit and reputation (fame) are important too.
- The Management principle P+O+S+D+C works in politics too as a politician uses Planning to Organize his party to deal with the issues, the organization requires Staffing (people), and these people need Directing and Controlling.
- In politics, the authority and responsibility have to be delegated. Delegation of authority and responsibility is the part of management.
- Fayol’s 14 principles of management apply to politics.
- The political leader is just like the principal of a business. Both have the final responsibility for all activities.

Politics and Management
Jaap de Jonge, Editor
Certainly management (being able to organize well) is really important in politics. And there is a lot of politics going on in management. Not everybody is perhaps realizing this.
