Use of the Body in Coaching
Stefania Di Cristofalo, Member
What do you think about those coaching approaches which use the body to generate awareness and to develop soft skills…
- Are they acceptable in your culture?
- Do they fit in corporate coaching?

Body Language for Coaching
Pedro Guedes Carvalho, Member
Stefania: I think body language is responsible for 55% of communication processes. I do some organizational constellations and do not use words. Just body language and systemic movement of groups. The results are amazing in corporations too.

Body language is definitely an asset in soft skill teaching. I have always used it in synchronization with teaching, and it makes communication extremely powerful.

Using Body Exercises in Coaching Sessions

What do you think about using breathing exercises, yoga asanas, bioenergetic exercises, to relax body and mind before a coaching session or to explore limits and personal resources during the session?

Body 'Wisdom' Coaching
Ben Smith, Member
Stefania, I see your question is around asking clients to tap into their own body for wisdom and guidance from their 'gut' - the intuitive wisdom we carry.
I was recently introduced to this concept and I had some concerns if it was 'compatible' with my Christianity. Some of the exercises have come from or are used as part of various religious cultures.
I think it helps to encourage clients to choose the words and viewpoint that works best for them. They may be able to view your exercises as purely spiritual, purely physical or both. In coaching, client's permission and using their language are always good concepts, how you apply them depends if you are doing one to one or group coaching.
