Business Intelligence History

Wikipedia says In 1989 Howard Dresner, a Research Fellow at Gartner Group popularized "BI" as an umbrella term to describe a set of concepts and methods to improve business decision-making by using fact-based support systems. But was it actually Dresdner in 1989 who actually coined the term 'Business Intelligence'?

Origin of BI

While I agree that Dresner came up with a commendable definition of BI, I believe that he only focused on BI as a process, and unfortunately not also as a product - which BI also is. As for who coined the term BI first, maybe Luhn's article in IBM Journal (Oct 1958) on the proposed ideal system that should do what BI systems do today should not be ignored.
