Definitions of Business Intelligence
I think it's hard to adequately give a definition of business intelligence in a single sentence. It means so much, to so many, from some every industry and service provider on the planet. Profets such as Cindi Howsen, Wayne Ekerson et al have written countless books on the subject, each longer than a single sentence.
Imagine a world without financial forecasting, sales trending, click streaming, behaviour patterns, drug trial analysis, customer segmentation analysis, product penetration, etc. etc. and you soon start to understand what BI stands for.
