Suggestion Boxes | Suggestion Schemes
I view brainstorming as a collection of 'suggestions' within a small group inside the four walls.
In our factory we had a "suggestion scheme". Suggestions were invited from the workmen on product development, means to enhance productivity, better and safer ways of performing a job etc.
The aim was to have an open forum for voicing one's opinion.
A 'register' was kept for people to enter their points.
The good suggestions will be honored to have 'lunch' with managing director!
Believe me the 'register' was full within a day. It had comments like ' cleaning should be done', quality charts should be prepared ' and so on.
I replaced the 'register" with another and 'wrote on the cover "my suggestions and my contribution". The person making a suggestion also had to write what 'he' is going to do to fulfill the suggestion. Now the 'register' had only 3 entries!
What I wish to say is
in a brainstorming session the participants will be accountable for the "ideas" suggested. This will instill a sense of responsibility.
