The Role of AI in BPR
What do you think is the role of Artificial Intelligence (big data, self-learning software, digital networks, algorithms) in Business Process Reengineering?
Is it a catalyst or does it replace BPR?

Re: The Role of Artificial Intelligence in BPR
I don't think of it as a replacement, but rather a complementary set of tools for process improvement. They can coexist and each have their pros and cons.
I was very much intrigued by Keith Swenson's keynote on bpmNext last year where he was talking about the "Synthetic Process". If we can indeed decompose a process into singular tasks that are only linked by their preconditions, it isn't hard to imagine AI to generate GPS-like shortest-path navigation through these tasks as suggested by Nathaniel Palmer in his vision of intelligent automation.
