Crucial Dialogue Model Refines OODA Loop
The OODA loop is not new… It is as old as mankind (otherwise we wouldn’t be here).
The foundation of the “OODA loop” and more of these loops (“PDCA” as already mentioned) is the Creative Interchange process, discovered (not invented) by Dr. Henry Nelson Wieman and updated by Dr. Charles Leroy Palmgren.
And if we focus on decision-making, I find my Crucial Dialogue Model, as said based on Creative Interchange, clearer. In that Model the ORIENT part is split in two:
- Appreciative Understanding (of the information) and - if needed -
- Creative Integrating of ideas into possible actions.
And (only) then it's time to DECIDE, which means decide which of the possible actions will be chosen. Part of the decision proces is finding out if we have the means (manpower, budget, time) to do the actions.
Once decided which actions will be executed, it's time to ACT (Continuous Transformation in CDM language).
Creatively,
Johan.
