Note that where Abell's model is talking about "technologies", that should not be taken literally, but should be interpreted more broadly, as: How / In what ways will the customer functions and needs be fulfilled by this firm? In addition to technologies that are used to manufacture a product, there are also other types of "technologies" that are used to market and sell a product in its market.
