Multinationals Should Consider Utilizing an Arm of Their Group to Serve Their Logistics Functions
Many FMCGs and manufacturing MNCs seek to outsource their logistics functions to third party logistics providers. However, in my view, all multinationals should consider utilizing an arm of their group to serve their logistics functions. With the imminent opening of an upgraded canal in Panama in 2015, the need for transhipment ports located strategically to the main and emerging markets all over the world.
Jamaica is geographically positioned to be one such port(s) and since it already has many MNCs holding offices there, these MNCs could consider having their local offices incorporate the logistical functions into their present operations where they only offer these services to the members of the group all over the world who have their customer base in this hemisphere.
These suggestions are directly related to improving the supply chain of any multinational corporation that seeks to capitalize on the opportunities that will come from considering such a business option.
