What is the meaning of X in PE Ratio?

Sometimes PE Ratio is given as 12.9x... What does "x" mean?

The Meaning of the x in PE Ratio

Quite simply: the x means "times". So it would mean the avarage common stock price is 12.9 times the net income per share.
