![]() What is Managing from Home and Remote Management? Meaning.Managing from home is a broad, umbrella term for a manner of managing in which managers or leaders do not commute or travel to a designated work location owned or operated by an employer, like an office building, factory, warehouse, or store. It is also referred to as remote management, virtual management or remote leadership and can be described as the practice of management or leadership while not being in the physical presence of those being managed or led. Note that the employees being managed may or may not be working remotely too. History of Managing RemotelyRemote management started with the arrival of computers, modems, the internet, laptops and Wi-Fi, and later using apps, smartphones and tablets. A major boost was given to the practice and necessity of remote managing by the COVID-19 pandemic in 2019 and beyond, forcing managers to manage their team and employees remotely.
