Facilitating Students for Their Effective Learning at the College Level

This paper deals with facilitation of students in order to improve their learning at the college level.


Abstract
This paper deals with facilitation of students in order to improve their learning at the college level.
It presents basic differences between teacher and facilitator.
It also briefly reviews and presents the basic concept of facilitation.
It summarizes and presents major findings of a quick survey, on helping and impeding factors and roles of college and faculty members, conducted with professional faculty members.

While helping factors for effective learning comprise extracurricular activities, academic environment, punctuality and discipline, practice-based learning, and so on; impeding factors appeared as absenteeism, lack of learning environment, traditional teaching method, poor developed infrastructure, and lack of guidance and counseling.

Finally, arrangement of regular classes, co-ordination between management and faculty, creation of academic environment, development of infrastructure, creation of student-friendly environment, focus on qualitative aspects, well management of learning materials, organization of seminars and workshops, and application of research-based teaching methodologies were concluded to be important aspects required for the effective learning at the college level.
