Method to analyze business unit communication content and channels, including digitalization
This method is useful for analyzing and measuring communication in a business unit and for information systems planning. It is based on genres of organizational communication (Yates and Orlikowski) and generates results such as (a sample):
- In this business unit employees receive on an average 120 pages of information through mail, emai, phone, database look-up, etc.
- 55% of this comes through office documents, 20% in meetings and other verbal communication, 10% on paper and 15% through ERP,
- adopting new information system XYZ would shift 25% of communication from office documents to new work-flow
- etc.
