The Power of Unity
Andrea Kelly , Manager, Jamaica

Each person plays a part in the organisation.

It does not matter the organisation, there is power in unification and where each individual does his/her part for the betterment of the organisation. I like Edward Everett Hale's words: "I am one. But still I am one. I cannot do everything. But still I can do something. And because I cannot do everything, I will not refuse to do the something that I can do." Therefore, management and all other staff are very important to an organisation to function effectively. Many organisations, especially government-runned ones, have suffered or are suffering because of lack of unity and people carrying out their functions assigned. Where employees have the worldview that what they produce reflects not only themselves but the organisation, they will work cohesively to complete functions even where those functions are not a part of any one individual's job objectives. What these employees see is the bigger picture - that is, the overall results for the organisation. This is what drives them. It is their motivating factor. They will work asidiously to achieve the destined results Hence, when each person does the something that they can do and unite to accomplish the tasks, the results will be phenomenal - productivity will increase.
