Management and Social Work

The best management approach to social work lies in people empowerment.

An eclectic approach to management of social services, the one that 'works best', lie in recognizing that service users need to be involved and empowered. Consider the recent budget cuts: without involving service users, there will be no end to the negative implications of reduced resources and limited allocations. By involving the consumers in the decision making process ( through feedback, recommendations, and possible counter-parting measures), an external condition is created for effective management of limited resources. While recognizing the above, the burden of social service provision still lie with the state. Hence, with or without budget cuts, social protection floor remains the bottom line in response to needed social services.
