Mediocre and ineffective attributes leading to poor performance

I am exploring is to understand what are those attributes that leads to mediocre performance


I am, like many of you, constantly exploring ways to help people reach an optimum level of performance, peak performance, in their professional life. Achieving optimum level of performance, peak performance helps both the organization and the individual realize their dreams and ambitions. I am fully convinced that there are certain attributes that enhance and enable individuals to achieve peak performance, while there are certain attributes that prevent people from achieving peak performance.
One of the things that I am exploring is to understand what are those attributes that leads to mediocre performance. The attributes that prevent people from achieving peak performance. To me Identifying mediocre performance attributes is just the starting point. This will only result in devising effective ways of helping people to develop appropriate attributes that enhancing peak performance attributes.
Here are some of the attributes that i have identified that result in mediocre performance

  • 1. Control : a perceived inability to control or influence the outcome.

  • 2. Perception of Self: develop a sense of feeling that one is not capable of doing any good or harbor a feeling that one is good for nothing.

  • 3. Self Doubt: doubt one's capabilities even though adequately trained, harbor inner conflict.

  • 4. Think adversities: unnecessarily worry about adverse outcomes, overwhelmed by the fear of failure.

  • 5. Strong will: give-up easily, accept defeat easily.

  • 6. Responsibility: unwilling to take responsibility, being irresponsible, and being lazy.

  • 7. Average Performance: be satisfied with average level of performance, just do what is the minimum expected to avoid trouble, unwilling to push for more.

  • 8. Clarity: lack clarity regarding purpose, vision, mission, and Goals.

  • 9. Luck: depend on luck for success, success happens as a matter of chance, depend on others for completing goals.

  • 10. Initiative: wait for things to happen rather than take initiatives to make things happen.

  • 11. Manipulative: manipulate people and process to escape responsibility

  • 12. Ignorance: ignorant of the factors that holding oneself to mediocrity.

  • 13. Indecisiveness: just jump from one thing after another, never get focused on one or few things create value.

  • 14. Time Management: spend time on time wasters, instead of spending time of core activities spend time on other things.
