Japanese Management techniques
Mohamed Imthiaz , CEO, United Arab Emirates

Japanese business management use techniques adoptable to a given local business climate in employee communication, problem solving, Policy deployment, work place maintenance, continuous improvement, Keizen, 5S, and a variety of useful techniques

In managing enterprises I have been exposed to several principles, theories, mehtods, techniques, and best practices from East and west, traditional and modern, new and old. But nothing impressed me more than how the Japanese management techniques.

Growing up and being brought up in Sri Lanka where British educational systems are inherited into the culture and the fabric of population and the manner in which businesses are done, I feel Japanese management principles gives you an option to get involvment from all parties concerned in a project. It offers a good communication mechanism where by you are able to march with the rest of the people whom you are guiding and whose performance is part of your responsibility.

Japanese business management use techniques adoptable to a given local business application and that has enabled them to be successfull in managing their affairs to be the second largest economy in the world. Although China is now back tracking Japan to be the second largest economy. The degree of communication the programs offer motivates the work force to be productive in every sphere producing the metrics desired by the management.

Problem analysis using fish bone diagrams and employee involvment through suggestion schemes are great practices in solving problems and issues. Hoshin Kanri is another technique in Policy deployment, and 5S is a another technique in work place maintenance, Keizen principles improves what has been achieved to the next level.

I am looking forward to write on few of these concepts in my blogs as time permits.
