ラリー e. Greinerの成長段階モデルは組織が成長の5つの(6)段階を通って行き、適切な作戦および構造を対処することを必要とする提案する。  ある特定の管理スタイル、組織構造および調整のメカニズムがなぜ働く、そしてなぜ一部が組織の開発のある特定の段階に働かないか理解するのに使用することができるのは説明的なframeworkである。 Greinerの1972 Growth Phasesモデルは組織の開発および成長の5段階を記述する:

  1. 創造性による成長。 起動会社、企業家の、非公式のコミュニケーション、ハードワークおよび低い収入。 リーダーシップの危機によって終了。
