Social powerOs processos do poder são pervasive, complexos, e disfarçado frequentemente em nossa sociedade. Bases of Social Power de French and Raven é uma teoria que identifique cinco (seis) bases ou fontes do poder (organizational) social:

  1. Poder da recompensa. Este formulário é baseado na abilidade percebida dá conseqüências positivas ou remove o negativo uns.

  2. Poder Coercive. Esta é a abilidade percebida de punir aqueles que para não se conformar com suas idéias ou demandas.

  3. Poder Legitimate (autoridade organizational). Este formulário é baseado na percepção que alguém tem a direita prescrever o comportamento devido à eleição ou à nomeação a uma posição da responsabilidade. Normativo também chame Power. Compare: Carta de organização.

  4. Poder de Referent. Este é poder com a associação com outra que possui o poder.

  5. Poder perito. Este tipo é baseado em ter o conhecimento, o expertness, a abilidade ou habilidades distintivas.

  6. Similar a 5: Poder da informação. Este formulário é baseado em controlar a informação necessitada por outra a fim alcançar um objetivo importante.

Os cinco começos da teoria de Bases of Social Power da suposição que o poder e a influência envolvem relações entre pelo menos dois agentes. A teoria argumenta que a reação do agente de recepção é o foco mais útil para explicar os fenômenos da influência e do poder sociais.


French and Raven examinou o efeito do poder derivado das várias bases da atração e da resistência ao uso do poder. A atração e a resistência são o sentiment do receptor para o agente que usa o poder. Conclem que o uso do poder das várias bases tem conseqüências diferentes.

Por exemplo, o poder coercive diminui tipicamente a atração e causa a resistência elevada. Visto que o poder da recompensa aumenta a atração e cria níveis mínimos da resistência.


French and Raven concliu também que “mais legitimate a coerção [é percebido para ser], menos produzirá a resistência e a atenção diminuída”.
