W Edwards Deming era um statistician americano que fosse associado com a ascensão de Japão como uma nação da manufatura, e com a invenção de Total Quality Management (TQM). Deming foi a Japão imediatamente depois da guerra ajudar ajustar acima um census da população japonesa. Quando estava lá, ensinou “o controle do processo estatístico” aos coordenadores japoneses - um jogo das técnicas qual permitiu que manufaturassem os bens de alta qualidade sem maquinaria cara. Em 1960 foi concedido uma medalha pelo Emperor japonês para seus serviços à indústria desse país.

Deming retornou aos E.U. e foi desconhecido por anos até a publicação de seu livro “fora da crise” em 1982. Neste livro, Deming ajustou para fora 14 pontos que, se aplicado à indústria de manufatura dos E.U., ele acreditaram, excepto os E.U. do doom industrial pelo japonês.
 

O Fourteen Points of Management do Dr. W. Edward Deming representa para muitos povos a essência de Total Quality Management (TQM).
 

Fourteen Points of Management de Deming

  1. Criar o constancy da finalidade para a melhoria do produto e preste-o serviços de manutenção. Compare: Hoshin Kanri - distribuição da política. (As organizações devem alocar recursos para o planeamento a longo prazo, a pesquisa, e a instrução, e para a melhoria constante do projeto de seus produtos e serviços)
  2. Adote a filosofia nova. (Os regulamentos do governo que representam obstáculos devem ser removidos, transformação das companhias são needed)
  3. Termine a dependência em inspeçãos em massa. (A qualidade deve ser projetada e construído nos processos. Impeça defeitos, melhor que tentar detectá-los e reparar, depois que ocorreram)
  4. Termine a prática do negócio concedendo na base de Tag de preço sozinho. (As organizações devem estabelecer relacionamentos a longo prazo com [os únicos] fornecedores)
  5. Melhore constantemente e para sempre o sistema da produção e preste serviços de manutenção. (A gerência e os empregados devem procurarar continuamente por maneiras melhorar a qualidade e a produtividade)
  6. Institua o treinamento. (O treinamento em todos os níveis é uma necessidade, nao opcionais)
  7. Adote e institua a liderança. (As gerente devem conduzir, não supervisionar)
  8. Expulse o medo. (Faça empregados sentir seguros bastante para expressar idéias e fazer perguntas)
  9. Quebre abaixo barreiras entre áreas da equipe de funcionários. (Trabalhar nas equipes resolverá muitos problemas e melhorará a qualidade e a produtividade)
  10. Elimine slogans, avisos, e objetivos para o workforce. (Os problemas com qualidade e produtividade são causados pelo sistema, não por indivíduos. Os posteres e os slogans geram a frustração e o resentment)
  11. Elimine quotas numéricos para a força de trabalho e os objetivos numéricos para povos na gerência. (Para conseguir seus quotas, os povos criarão produtos defeituosos e relatórios falsos)
  12. Remova as barreiras que roubam povos do orgulho do workmanship. (As revisões de performance individual são uma barreira grande ao orgulho da realização)
  13. Incentive a instrução e a self-melhoria para todos. (Aprendizagem contínua para todos)
  14. Faça exame da ação para realizar a transformação. (A dedicação na parte da gerência e dos empregados do alto é requerida).
