Les Dimensions de Personnalité de la Marque (Brand Personality Dimensions) de Jennifer Aaker (Journal of Marketing Research, 8/97, pp. 347-356) est un cadre pour décrire et mesurer la 'personnalité " d'une marque dans cinq dimensions principales, chacune divisée en ensemble de facettes.


C'est un modèle pour décrire le profil d'une marque en employant une analogie avec l'être humain.


Les cinq dimensions principales et leurs facettes

Celles-ci sont : Personnalité de la Marque de Jennifer Aaker

  • Sincérité (pieds sur terre, honnête, sain, gai)
  • Excitation (audacieux, vif, imaginatif, branché)
  • Compétence (fiable, intelligent, réussite)
  • Sophistication (aristocrate, charmant)
  • Rudesse (nature, dures)

Chaque facette est à son tour mesurée par un ensemble de traits de caractère. Les mesures de trait de caractère sont faites en employant une échelle de notation de 1 à 5 (1 = pas du tout descriptif, 5 = extrêmement descriptif) évaluant dans quelle mesure chaque trait de caractère décrit la marque spécifique.


Une description des traits de caractère appartenant à chacune des facettes

Ces traits de caractère sont :

  • Pieds sur terre = pieds sur terre, centré famille, villageois
  • Honnête = honnête, sincère, vrai
  • Sain = sain, originel
  • Gai = gai, sentimental, amical
  • Audacieux = audacieux, dernier cri, excitant
  • Vif = vif, frais, jeune
  • Imaginatif = imaginatif, unique
  • Branché = branché, indépendant, contemporain
  • Fiable = fiable, travailleur, sécurisant
  • Intelligent = intelligent, technique, entreprise
  • Réussite = réussite, leader, confiant
  • Aristocrate = aristocrate, fascinant, beau
  • Charmant = charmeur, féminin, doux
  • Nature = nature, masculin, occidentale
  • Dur = dur, rugueux

L'approche des Dimensions de Personnalité de la Marque de Jennifer Aaker peut être employé pour étudier la situation actuelle (IST) d'une marque et pour décrire la situation future désirée (SOLL) de la marque.
