Black Swan Events in our Personal Life
Ajai Dayal, Business Consultant, India

Many people who have achieved meteoric heights in life acknowledge the impact of rare events in their life. Events that they typically not anticipated/predicted but that did lead to their reaching dizzy/tizzy heights.
Sometimes they attribute this to God or the unforeseen. It can reflect in the humility that is visible in their behaviour. Can we therefore say that Black Swan effects occur also in personal life?

Black Swan Effect in Personal Life and Karma

A Black Swan can occur in your personal life.
Indian philosophy believes this is direct related to your action in this life and previous lives, thus believing in the word "karma".

Taleb: Your Life is a Black Swan
Jos Nieland, Teacher, Netherlands
On the last page of the Black Swan Taleb writes that your own life is a Black Swan (extreme low probability very high impact at least for yourself)...
I think Taleb doesn't believe in God, but is in favour of certain rules for life that are coming from religions (for example: no debt (as in Islam)).
And it is good to think about God or the unforeseen; if you have to deal with an important decision in your life you have to think "there is more"! There is more than this theory, more than this model, more than this classroom knowledge. There is randomness and a Black Swan can occur. Am I prepared?!
