Agenda Setting Theory is Subset of Frame Analysis
Bernard Liebowitz PhD CMC, Management Consultant, United States

Agenda setting theory seems to be a subset of Frame Analysis as originally posed by Goffman and elaborated by George Lakoff, a linguist. We have no choice but to set a "frame" on what and how we interact with the environment. Without a frame, we wouldn't know what to focus on and what to ignore. That the media does the same is not an observation that should necessarily startle us.

You are right - setting a frame makes understanding easier.
But it can also play us foul as we put knowledge in categories thus making it difficult to think outside the box!
