Can anyone explain the relevance of the marketing plan to operations management in an organization with an example?

Here is an example: Suppose a marketing mix or plan contains a promotion in the form of a broad and intensive marketing campaign in some region or country.
Then it would be crucial that the operations function of the company is timely informed of the exact time when the campaign will take place, so they can prepare for the extra demands that will be placed on them in that region in that period.
