Lateral Thinking Should Be Taught at Univ / MBA

I recommend that this special subject "lateral thinking" should be a part of the engineer's and business management students in graduation and post graduation studies. Especially in India, where students are asked to follow what the book says and their minds are closed.

Learning and Training are Different

It is impossible to teach everything. In fact it would be difficult to find right tutors who may teach all. However masters programs are meant to put students on path of self learning and teaching further.
In such a situation lateral thinking which requires specific inputs, and is useful only to some of the people may be kept in the area of special training and kept out of curriculums of MBAs.
The techniques covered in 12manage are quite useful but all of these cannot be covered in any course to satisfactory level. These are better left for self discovery and assimilation by serious students.

I agree with Carol Akimanzi. If kids are taught at high school level in their business studies; it empowers them and prepares them for the business world. They don't have to wait until university level to have the correct mindset.

@Carol has a good point but @Gilmour takes teaching to a different level.
In my opinion, teaching kids about lateral thinking when they are not mature about what tools to use may be not good. Exposing too many tools at an age when the tools cannot be used may make them mere tools for passing exams. It should not become part of so many lists that kids are exposed to in pedagogic learning.
At later stage in professional life for people who have to find new creative solutions or solve problems this could be taught with much better results.
