Kraljic Template & Manual
R v Herck, Student (Other),

I am trying to setup and understand the Kraljic diagram.
Anyone who can support me on trying to do this with an Excel format/example?
The diagram will be used for understanding where the risks are in the purchase of ad hoc projects, because of very short lead times, so the purchase planning as an output is leading
Am I using the right tool here?

Hi Mr. Van Herck,
I'm not sure what you intend to do here.
The Kraljic model is not a risk assessment model, it is a way to define the relationship you have with a vendor of a commodity or part of a commodity in order to set up the purchasing strategy for that commodity.
If you could explain with more detail what you intend to do, I'm sure we can help you.

Using the Kraljic Diagram for Purchase Planning and Risk Assessment for a Project

Hi Mr. Koen Vandermarliere, at this moment I have a "modified" Kraljic diagram with added functionality that generates also the planning for purchase. And yes, it is used for finding the risks in a project. I would like to know if it is correct to use this tool for project planning with risk assessment, also to modify the questions and maybe formula in this model, since I don’t like the way it responds.
As I understand from your comment, I have the wrong tool here? In short: If I need a tool for purchase planning a project, and want to find the risks concerning purchase with this tool, what to use? I hope it's more clear now?

@R v Herck: Hello Mr Van Herck, if I understand your issue, you are looking more for a kind of MRP tool (Material Resource Planning). In general in this kind of tool you can enter a number of additional factors that are important for your planning. Things like: delivery time, minimum stock levels, bills of material, price, transport… Although these are usually used in production environments to plan the call of materials, I assume that you can modify the models to apply to ad hoc projects.
Usually there is no risk calculation in the Kraljic model.

@Koen Vandermarliere: Thanks, you understood me correctly, I guess I will change my view to an MRP tool to see if I can find what I need in this.
Perhaps you have some tips for me choosing?

@R v Herck: Hi, MRP is not really my area of expertise I think though that ANUJ KUMAR SHRIVASTAVA who is the SIG leader on the topic Material Management should be able to help you. Please do not hesitate to come back to me if you would not be able to contact him.
Koen.
