I am studying HR. What are the first few things which I should understand well if I become the HR manager of a company?

As an HR Manager, you are a leader of the organization and you need to be strategic in your approach to solutions.
Your primary goals are to protect the business and support people by ensuring the right people are in the right job at the right time.
You need to listen and learn with an open mind and a positive attitude.
I would also suggest that you need to be innovative and creative, while following legislation, rules and regulations.

You must become the "Conscience of the Organization" that is advise management when they are infringing on employee rights as well as advise employees when they are infringing on management rights.

You have to market your services to line management because many of them are unaware of how HR can assist them in achieving their goals.
