Strategies to Contain Environmental Degradation
musara enias n, Student (University), Zimbabwe

Many countries the world over have struggled to contain environmental degradation with laws and regulations. Some have gone to encourage ISO certification by companies. The idea of going green has been given its fair share as a solution.
But in mining this problem seems to be far from over, and although the mining sector has been heavily involved in CSR but on other issues that have nothing to do with the environment and ecosystems they damage.
Can I get ideas on the strategies that have been proposed to contain environmental degradation (especially focusing on mines in Africa). Please assist.

Maintaining our Environment - it Affects Us All
Darron Passlow, Business Consultant, Australia
Australia is fighting the need to change like most other industrialised countries in the world. It seems like Zimbabwe is also struggling - which epitomises the problems that developing nations face. The politicians will not listen and the big carbon polluters reign supreme by virtue of the big dollars they can bring to bare on (the wrong side of) the environment. It will take a community driven revolution to change the bad habits of the few (against the benefits of the many!).
Let's all keep pushing in what ever way we can and we will succeed and hopefully before it is too late.
May the force be with us!
