Emergent Strategy Allows Mistakes
Hans Joergen Pedersen, Analyst, Denmark

Strategy isn't a collection of previous actions which worked well. We have to recognize, understand, and evaluate prior successes and mistakes - and build a strategy on that foundation.
Emergent Strategy is useful for allowing disruption into the process. Mistakes hurt less, because the framework is more dynamic and allows adjustment without decision makers losing face.
And finally, it is open about the fact that no one can predict all the necessary aspects which form the foundation for the business. A lot of time is wasted dwelling on things you can not possibly guess / get right. Better to simply start moving and then adjust the speed and direction as it goes.
