Stages of Electronic Connections Between Businesses
Marten van der Zee, Student (University), Netherlands

In the connected economy, parties in the business chain are electronically integrated. Business models are influenced by the use of internet technology. R.J. Vonk has come up with the following 5 phases before a company is 100% connected:br>
1. Organizations give unilateral information on their website like product information and price lists.
2. Organizations exchange information, and transactions are set up via the internet.
3. Organizations connect themselves online more intensively. For example by adjusting their IT-systems. The benefit of this is that they don't have to enter information twice (such as article codes). This results in time reductions and less mistakes.
4. Organizations exchange information about purchase, sales, and stock situations. Using this information in planning systems, the supplier can manage the stock at the customer's side.
5. Organizations are aligning their business processes and are using these processes together. The costs are mutually settled. Examples: online catalogue in the tender phase, e-procurement after receiving the order, online supply information using order execution, e-billing/self-billing instead of sending invoices, e-banking when paying.
I am looking forward to your builds on stages of connection between businesses...
